What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability, says the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Excellent Treatment

All our team are fully qualified and experienced.  Our aim is always to achieve a successful outcome for our patients as quickly as possible.  We are more ‘hands-on’ than some physiotherapists.  We don’t just prescribe exercises. We use a variety of recognised and innovative treatments to relieve symptoms.

We always remember that we are treating a person,  not just a body.  We take time to listen and understand our patient’s symptoms and concerns.  We make sure they understand the underlying cause of the condition, and work together to resolve it. We educate and encourage them about how to avoid problems in the future.

Working in partnership with your GP

We work in close partnership with your GP.  When you have been referred to us for physiotherapy, we enter all of our treatments into your patient notes, so your GP has a full picture of your treatment programme.

We work in doctors’ surgeries because our patients prefer it. It’s local and familiar, and you know you are not going to get ‘lost in the system’. You can book physiotherapy appointments at the surgery reception, just like any other appointment.

Treatments include :

  • Ultrasound
  • Interferential
  • Lumbar & Cervical Traction
  • Acupucture
  • Manipulation and Manual Therapy
  • Exercise Therapy (including an interactive program by email)
  • Ergonomic Assessments and Advice

We’re happy to lend our patients TNS units (electronic pain control), exercise equipment and provide educational pamphlets.  Collars, wrist splints exercise bands, tape and joint supports are provided free of charge.
